Most members of the media not only don't help stem the hysteria over dog breeds that leads to breed-specific legislation, they egg it on. In marked contrast is Steve Dale, the country's most popular syndicated pet columnist and radio show host, who has for years been an outspoken opponent of BSL.Steve will be joining us to discuss the fight against BSL, and the danger it represents to dogs and responsible dog ownership. On his blog, Steve wrote, "Ironic - the winner at Westminster is banned from some cities.
My message is 'you can make a difference, you must!' One thing in common in all cities with BSL - apathy." Find out how you can make a difference.

Richard Hawkins has chased antelope with pariah dogs in Africa, coursed the hare with Borzoi and Whippet in UK, and the hare and the lure with Scottish Deerhounds and Galgo in Europe. He has owned, coursed and lure coursed Scottish Deerhounds for 25 years. For a number of years he has been closely involved with all aspects of promoting, organizing, and running lure trials in Holland. An internationally known expert on sighthound breeds, he is co-author of Arrianus, de lange jacht en lurecoursing, a Dutch book on the origins and characteristics of hunting and coursing with hounds, and the Dogs in Canada article "What, If Anything, is a Sighthound?" Living now in Canada, he is currently working on a book on Deerhounds with his wife Barbara Heidenreich, who has bred Fernhill Scottish Deerhounds for more than 35 years. We're very happy to welcome him to discuss "Sighthounds and their Work."

Richard Pitcairn is a pioneer in modern holistic care for cats and dogs. The first edition of Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats came out in 1981, and started a groundswell of interest in holistic methods of feeing and taking care of pets. Dr. Pitcairn received his degree in veterinary medicine from UC Davis in 1965, and his Ph.D. in veterinary microbiology and immunology from Washington State University in 1972. His best-selling book is now in its third edition, released in 1995.
